At least 192 structures were destroyed by a fan-flamed wildfire that quickly spread to more than 20,000 acres in Ventura County, officials announced in a press conference Monday.

Nearly a week after the destructive Mountain Fire destroyed more than a hundred buildings and torched tens of thousands of acres of brush in Ventura County, firefighters are defending their response to the blaze as some residents return to their burnt homes.

Santa Ana winds impacting Ventura County have made the fire more difficult to extinguish, the Fire Department said.

On Thursday morning, new evacuations were ordered for areas of Santa Paula and Bardsdale, along the Santa Clara River.

The Mountain fire has burned more than 20,000 acres and destroyed 134 structures in Ventura County. It was about 26% contained as of Sunday morning.

At least 200 structures, including homes, have been destroyed alongside an additional 90 damaged in the ongoing wind-fanned Mountain Fire in Ventura County, fire officials said Tuesday morning.

Mountain Fire initially started 8:51 a.m. Nov. 6 in Ventura County. It has burned 20,630 acres after being active for a week. By Wednesday morning, a crew of 1,864 firefighters effectively contained 60% of the fire.

The blaze charred hundreds of acres of citrus trees, nursery plants, raspberry crops, and avocado trees, according to Ventura County Agricultural Commissioner Korinne Bell.
