PUERTO ESCONDIDO, Mexico (AP) — Two people are dead after former hurricane John barreled into Mexico’s southern Pacific coast, blowing tin roofs off houses, triggering mudslides and toppling scores of trees, officials said Tuesday.

Former Hurricane John dissipated over Mexico on Tuesday after barreling into the country’s southern Pacific coast overnight, leaving two dead and a trail of destruction in its path.

MARQUELIA, Mexico >> The remnants of Hurricane John soaked a large swath of southwestern Mexico on Tuesday as its trek inland slowed and clean up work got underway, but the once powerful storm still threatened severe flooding and caused at least three deaths.
